A collection of photos from – to most known as punk rock engineer/producer – Spot. The photos document the punk, skate and beach scene of the South Bay/LA in the late 70’s and early 80’s as seen by him. Forwords by Johan Kugelberg, Ryan Richardson and Spot. Otherwise it is just photos you can concentrate on, if you like to know more there is sort of a „caption index“ in the end, with more info on the photo – which is sometimes not very much. Anyway, Spot was at the right spot at the right times in order to document the lifestyle of the area at the time. My impression is that most of the photos are very authentic, not each is a mastershot, but be ensured there is some great photos of some great bands/persons/scenes that manage to transport the spirit of the time.

Of course also the beach fashion is visible, even thou not much apparel is often seen. Obviously rollerskating was big at the time (bikini girls) – but what can you do? Most of the photos are b/w, just a few in colour, but b/w fits just fine. More than 260 pages (21,6 x 27,9 cm) in a hardcover book. The photo on the cover of the girl flying is probably the most confusing, since it does not really make sense and Spot, at the time, would not reveal any info… so lets not wait for explanations but the „evidence“. Meanwhile you can have a great time with the book. The price is a bit steep for a china printed book – 50.- $ (dolf)
