What a treat! This is probably the most elaborate book I ever saw! Apart from the coffeetable appearance, hardcover, LP-Album size format, 100 pages, nicely coated, full coloured. This book comes with a double red-vinyl LPs integrated in the book, as well as a full length DVD with the documentary movie and a CD with all the music on it – integrated as well. The book is written by the Stern brothers, three of them and shows not only the story of the label and the band, but also goes back in the family history to their childhood and moving from Canada to California.

You learn about how and when they got involved with music, their surfer-life, the beginning of the LA punk scene, Skinhead Manor, find out about the shows the brothers set up and what they went thru. Get reminded on the great movie `Another State of Mind’ and its making just about everything a book like this should have: other band members have written in, tourstorys  tons of pictures and illustrations!

Over half of the book is pure punk rock and hardcore LA-style. Later comes the Royal Crown Revue in game, as well as That`s It! Well, I guess that is part of their story and has to be in there too back with Youth Brigade and the label and Punk Rock Bowling. At the end a nice Discography of all the albums so far. Did I mention there is 31 Songs on the album by a lot of BYO bands doing covers of their favourite BYO bands, good idea. Came out great, top bands, top songs, top layout, top everything. And all this for only 44,90 Euro – amazing! Remember: “ youth really is an attitude, not an age.” (dolf)
